Ali Baba Mock Model Sheet by Betsy

Backstory: Ali Baba is the adopted son of a rich man. When his father passed, his fortune was left to his blood son, Cassim. Ali Baba decided to take the profession a woodcutter. While in the woods, he met a sailor named Sinbad and they quickly became friends. Sinbad offered Ali Baba to join him in his voyage, but declined believing that the real adventures are at your own home. However, a few months later, while Ali Baba and his friend, a sand cat named Morgiana, were out fishing, they were raided by pirates, similar to what happened to Scheherazade. While they were captive, Sinbad manages to rescue them and they escaped. Realizing that their home is far away, Ali Baba and Morgiana decided to join Sinbad's crew so that they could return. But over the course, they eventually become his crewmates.
About the character: Ali Baba is an honest and hard-working hound. He would rather stay home and work around and hang out with his friends than go on adventures, at least until he joins Sinbad's crew. His weapon of choice is a pole that was given to him by his father, who learned how to fight with it during a trip to China. Ali will only use his pole to defend others. He's also known for being too trusting for his own good, which almost got him killed one day. He's friends with a pot maker named Morgiana, who's very clever. In fact, she saves him more often then naught. But that doesn't mean he can't hold out on his own. Sometimes, when he runs into a mountain of lost treasure, he can't help but feel excited about it. But rest assured, he is not greedy. He is willing to share among his fellow crewmembers.

Well, folks, We finally got another one of Sinbad's crew members. (He has seven crew members, one of which is actually owned by another user but lets me use him.) Many of you have heard about Ali Baba, right? (the non-villain one that some adaptations depict him as!)

I chose hound because they're not used that often for a main character, especially for a young man. Plus, hound dogs have a way of finding things.

Initially, I only wanted him to appear in one arc, but I really enjoyed the character. So much so, that I decided to let him join Sinbad's crew, though not immediately.

Here's his original design along with Morgiana. (on the far right in black and white) He originally had a lump on his head, but I felt that it made him look too goofy. So when we did the model sheet, I had Betsy exclude it.

When I was coming up with his design, I kept thinking that he had the same fur color as Copper from The Fox and the Hound. Of course, we don't want our OC's to look TOO similar to official characters, do we? Betsy came up with the fur color and I came up with his clothing colors.

Also, you notice that he's barefooted in one of his poses. I was thinking that he would alternate between wearing shoes and not. Now, I'm starting to think that he should wear shoes, especially since the sand can be scorching hot in the sun.
